Carrick on Shannon Historical Trail.
Cycle back in time along the River Shannon and take the cycle path to Summerhill to visit the Famine Memorial Garden and The Famine Workhouse including the Attic Exhibition. Other places of interest along the route include St Georges Heritage Center, Costello Chapel (smallest in Europe), the Town Clock, the Market Yard (the bustling farmers market is a must on a Thursday morning), The Dock Arts Center and finishing up with the Town Park and Victoria Hall.

The Fairy Hill Trail
This is an easy cycle taking in stunning views of Sliabh An Iarainn and gently rolling hills and quiet countryside where nature can be thoroughly enjoyed. Referred to as the fairy hill, Sheemore Hill is steeped in history with 3 megalithic tombs and a large crucifix at the summit. A spectacular 360 degree view over the surrounding area makes a climb even more rewarding. Distance: 17 Km to 34 Km depending on return route.
Carrick on Shannon to Lough Key Forest and Activity Park
With our mapped route you will get to cycle on a quiet country road away from the N4 with minimum traffic to disturb the peace as you whiz over the many hills, cross the River Shannon via the amazing hump back bridge at Harley and through the quaint village of Cootehall. A stop off to admire the majestic River Shannon en route is highly recommended. Distance: 37 km round trip.
