The Iron Mountain Trail

​Tour is fully guided over Sliabh An Iarainn Mountain known as the Iron Mountain. The mountain guards over the southeastern shores of Lough Allen. The tour will bring you along the Slí Liatroma, taking in breath taking views of Lough Allen, Corry Mountains and Sleibh An Iarainn from a quiet country road, part of the Kingfisher Cycle Trail.  Experience the great expanse of upland blanket bog and the wilderness paradise that is Sliabh an Iarainn. You would be forgiven for thinking you were in the Scottish Highlands. Breathtaking panoramic views of the west and Midlands of Ireland await you at the highest point. Comfortable shoes and clothing should be worn.

 Included in the package:

• Hire of a high quality Kalkhoff electric bike for the day
• A freshly prepared gourmet picnic lunch using local produce, wine, soft drinks, tea or coffee. The picnic will be set up ready for your arrival at a peace full waterfall area known only to locals. The waterfall is particularly impressive after rainfall and is surrounded by nature and wildlife. An ideal location to relax and enjoy lunch
• Local guide who will set you on your journey at ease, have all the local stories, tails and historical information you could want.
• Backup transport will be provided if required at any point
• Equipment supplied includes safety helmet, high vis vest, rain cape
• waterproof pannier bag, use of a binoculars, complementary trail map.

Lower Sliabh An Iarainn Trail

In the event of unsuitable weather conditions for the higher Sliabh An Iarainn Trail or if travelling party wish to take an easier option this lower ascent route can be chosen taking in spectacular views over east Leitrim and west Cavan. Cyclists will have clear views of Lough Scur and St John’s Lake, Drumcong Village, Keshcarrigan Village and Sheemore Hill. The trail direction is somewhat reversed with cyclists heading to Aghacashel via Drumcong. A trip to Poll an Eas Waterfall is a must before travelling up the southern slopes of Sliabh An Iarainn.
A packed picnic lunch will be provided on this tour.
